Reflecting upon the school year thus far, what things have gone well with using netbooks in your classroom. Please list a few items. |
Having regular access to the netbooks has improved the ease to which students can produce and share and collaborate on many types of projects. It has also increased access to tools that help students visualize and engage with difficult concepts.

Reflecting upon the use of netbooks in your classroom this year, what are some simple things that would make them a more useful tool in your classroom. |
Any web based Java application is an issue with the netbook. I would use more webbased interactive sites if Java consistently worked. The Camera and Microphone do NOT currently work. If they worked I would use the netbooks for more interactive multimedia projects. They are currently limited to text based applications mostly because of the limits with Java, camera and microphone. Also because I can not easily access my home wireless network I can not take the netbook home to prepare lessons and improve my proficiency with the netbook. Also having control over some of the everyday issues such as the problem of students being unable to login, that requires the netbook to be turned in is a major inconvenience for the student. It appears to be a very simple fix when they are turned in and seems that if the access to correct this issue was shared it would solve on regular hassle.

Josh and Bea have been extremely supportive in all we have done with Netbooks and the implementation of 1:1 would not have been possible or as successful as it has been with out all they have done. In the first part of the survey some of the "Nevers" were checked because of the limitations the netbooks have with Java, cameras, and microphones
