 | New way of doing chapter
With each topic you will be expected to do two things to complete this assignment: (I will be taking a grade on your blogging so it is important to complete it each time we blog.)
1. First you will reflect on the topic I have given. After logging in, delete everything in the box and begin your blog by putting 12-17 (or what ever the date is), 8_ (teacher's initial), & your initials. It will look like this: "12-17 8BKF" Use complete sentences and you must write at least a paragraph. (No less than 5 sentence each topic.) We are not texting so spelling and punctuation counts!
2. On this one you may read other student's reflections and make comment to other student’s reflections. I will not be grading the comment but if I read any negative comments I will take points from you blog grade. Please don't use the above format when commenting on another student’s blog so I can tell which it is is: reflection or comment. Comments should be positive in nature or contain constructive suggestions. Any negative or rude comments will cost you the points for that blog assignment.
You are also welcome to return to the blog and add comments at other times during the week.
I am hoping that this blog will give you a voice in the classroom.
Topic:
Ok we have tried something different for the chapter, did you like it or not? Please be specific about what you liked or didn't like. How could it be better? Would you like to do it again? Do you have another ways we could do the chapter, again be specific. Have a great break and I'll see you next year. This blog will not be on 2nd quarter but will be the first grade for 3rd quarter.

I think that the new way that we're doing the chapter is great. It's a lot more efficient than just listening to you tell us the notes. I think that the major benefit is that we have the time to write more information down. When you're lecturing, sometimes we don't write fast enough to get all of the information that we need to know. Getting all of the facts from the book is great too because we would actually read the chapter and get the information that way. I also found that I remembered the stuff in the packet much better than just a lecture. I think that this was because we were presented the information three times. Once in the study guide packet, once in the notes packet, and the final time when a student presents the slide. Although I think that this method is great. I don't think that it should be used for some of the harder and longer chapters further on in the book. It should only be used with the shorter and less important chapters because sometimes when you give us information in front of the class we get some facts that we might've not gotten directly from the book. |

I personally liked the way we did the new chapter. I thought I was easier, more specific, and much faster. I wouldn't change the way we did anything. I also think that we should just keep doing it the new way. I think when we we're taking the notes, we remember the information a little more. So I would rather do it that way again. |

My opinion about starting the new ways of doing the packets and test is that i really do enjoy it. I personally learned way more by looking it up myself, instead of just hearing it and writing it down. Having to use my book, look at the pictures, and see all that is throughout the chapter gave me a much better understanding of the whole chapter. Another good thing is time. We spent not nearly as much time taking notes, and It gave us more time to get the test in. I would request we keep doing this until harder lessons that need further explaining than just the book, such as major wars or whatnot. Overall, I liked the way we did this! |

I really liked how we did this chapter. I think that finding the information myself helped me to remember things, and after taking the test, I am confident that I got a good grade because everything was so easy to remember. I also enjoyed presenting the slides because if you forgot a vital piece of information and another student talked about it in their presentation, we could easily add it into our notes. Those presentation bonus points didn't stink, either! |

| I liked the way the chapter went because it went a lot faster and it helped us do the work individually and learn more. I think we should keep doing all the chapters the new way we've done it. We should keep doing it that way again and again. My only suggestion is e could make the chapters a little bit more fun and exciting. But it was also fun the way we did the last chapter. |

The new way we did the Social Studies Notes was a lot of fun. I liked it much better than the way we did it before, simply because it doesn't take over a week to finish the notes, it only took about two days. Yes, I would like to do it again, but if the chapter is long, I would rather have you teach it, or maybe work in groups or partners. Overall, I did enjoy doing the new way of note taking! |

The new way of doing the chapter was o.k., but not great. I like the old way of doing the chapter because I think it takes less time. Also, we don't have to spend 2+ days trying to get it done ourselves. When you just read the notes to us, I think that I learn more rather than looking it up in the book. I really don't have any suggestions on how to do the chapter differently next time. My only suggestion is to go back to the old way we've done it. |

I think that this was a good way of doing the chapter. I also think its a lot better then just sitting in class listening the whole time, when half the time kids don't know what your saying. I think this helps them learn more about the chapter because you actually read it yourself, and if you need to go back and look for something you already know where it is in the book so you can go and see it without taking a while to search for it. I liked the idea of going up to the front of the class to read what we had and get bonus points, because some kids need bonus points and it also helps us get more information about the topic. It should also help us want to write more down and study it more so we can do much better on our tests. I like the idea of more things to study for because it makes the questions less points and if you miss them you don't lose as much. I think this was a good thing to do for the chapter because it helps me learn the lesson a lot better than just hearing someone talk to me, also it goes by a lot faster and we get it done in more time to study and things. This is a very good way to do things. |

I really liked this new way of doing the handouts, packets, and the test. it made things a lot easier and I liked it much better.I think doing it this way makes us more accountable and really have to pay more attention.I like this a lot. I really think that we should continue this new way because it is fun and more interactive. And I would like to do it again. |

I liked the new way because we get it done a lot quicker when we do it by ourselves. I also like how if we do good on our presentation we get 5 bonus points. I don"t like how on the hand outs how we have to write complete sentences. I liked doing the hand outs the old way, and if we do them the old way it will give us more time to work on our power-point notes and get better answers. |

I liked this new method of doing the chapter, as when we had to copy down notes from a lecture, I found that I could not copy every detail down and still keep up. I think that the ten bonus points are also very useful in case you made some small mistakes or wish to receive a better grade for whatever reason. The chapter test was very easy and it should definitely stay the same as too many short answer questions can be tedious. However, I do think the old method of doing the essay is better because it more relates to what we did on the review slide. |

I really liked the new way we did the chapter. I thought it was very fun, and i think it also might have improved my grade on the test because this time i had to rely on myself to find the right amount of information instead of listening to it and not really knowing anything about what i was writing down. So i really thought that that was a great idea. I also loved how we got to present our slide for the class for a bonus chance. I think that was a great way to earn bonus! I also really liked how the test was set up this time. Overall, i thought all of the new ideas were great and i would love for it to stay this way. :) |

| Doing the new chapter, I think, took a longer than what I expected. it got a little tedious after a while but it did help me learn more information than doing it in a group. I think that we should go back to the way we did it before. If not for the slide shows and movies, for having to write less and have to do less work. Not trying to be a lazy student, but everyone likes to get by with doing it the easy way. ~Merry Christmas! |

| 12-17-09 8BDM I really like doing this way of the notes much better. I like how everyone has to go up and present. I also like that if you present well and give good information, you get five bonus. Those five points will help any body's grade. One thing that I would change is that when our number is picked out of the jar, it should be our choice whether or not we want to present. Some kids just hate presenting in front of the class. I really want to keep doing the notes like we just did. One more thing I would change is when we are looking for the information, we should be allowed to work in groups. That would help out a lot. |

I really liked the new way of doing the notes. I liked how we could go at our pace and not have Mrs.Fuller up there talking the whole time. I would have liked it even more if there were partners. I liked that we were given the responsibility to take our own notes. The new way is defiantly better.

| I liked it because you can take your time to learn and not have to listen to you have to talk all day.I bet that you get tired saying the same thing all day. I personally think that there is nothing to make it better because it is great the way it is. I would love to do this again it was great hopefully all year long. i don't have a better way to do the chapter because i would love to do this one. |

I really liked this new way taking notes and worksheets. With note taking if a student doesn't get a good grade on them he/she can't blame you for the bad notes. That student read and took the notes himself so he doesn't have anyone to blame. I also think that by taking notes yourself it forces you to read the chapter. The work sheets were also good because you had to write a sentence and not just circle a letter. Some students could guess and get them all right. With the sentences you have to read and you also learn more. Overall i really liked this and would like to do it again |

for this chapter what we did was kind the cool, but some kids didn't get a time to do theirs so i really didn't like it at all because it not fair some kids get the bonus and some of them didn't. because they didn't get an opportunity to present theirs. so next time i just want it to be the same as we always do. But we could do it if some kids choose to do it but u have to choose them by yourself instead of calling the number. But i enjoy it. i didn't like it because some of the kids really didn't explain really good. But i like playing the review games it fun it help me to remember stuff.

I liked this way of doing the chapter, instead of us being depended on you to give us the answers we had to find them ourselves. I also like presenting the slides because you can see who actually tried to take good notes instead of just writing something down.If i could change anything about this chapter it would probably be the section handouts. I didn't like how you had to write the sentences out, it was a lot quicker when we did it the other way. I would like to do this again. |

| 12-17 8BWS:I liked the new way we took our notes. There are many benefits too this new way. We got to look up the notes first which got us familiar with the subject. We then got to hear it from other students. Finally, we got to review it by playing a review game. This way would very much help us get ready for future tests.This way makes remembering easier. It was good for Mrs. Fuller too because she didn't have to talk all day to students. Talking all day would be tiring. Students talking in front of the class would help them with their presentation skills. This way also helped us with our note taking skills for the future. If Mrs. Fuller goes to the knew way the class should be called History with Sages.

| 12-17 8G JW. I thought that the way that we di the notes was cool. I think that the pace was a lot quicker. I also think that my classmates made the subject a lot more interesting. I do not know why, it just seemed that way. I have no patients and sitting and listening about history for a really long time bothers me. With this way of teaching, I got to stand up for once. It felt good to get out of my seat and do something. I think that we should keep doing it this way because I really like it. |
