Mrs. Snyder
I graduated from SIU in 2000 and shortly after began teaching for Carbondale New School, a private school in the local area. At New School I gained valuable experience teaching in a multiage environment. I taught pre- Kindergarten, Kindergarten and first grade throughout my four years at CNS. In 2006 I received a position at Unity Point in which I have taught first and second the entire time. In this time I have formed wonderful relationships with my current and former students as well as the wonderfully talented staff at our school.
The beauty of multiage lies in how it lends it self to creating a community of learners. My students "own" their learning and classroom environment in which I work as a facilitator. It is my goal that all my students embrace each other's unique differences and help me create a safe, loving learning environment.
On a more personal level I have been married for ten years and I have a wonderful son who is in Mrs. Burnside's multiage classroom. I enjoy running, exercising, dancing, laughing and writing, however my true passion lies in the social, emotional and academic growth of children.
I love that I love what I do for a living and I hope that you and your child will enjoy the Multiage environment!
