Chris, I agree it is truly "more" authentic when students can make connections to their content outside their community. What I appreciated from the sessions most, was how the educators thought globally.

I am ordering Naked DSL tomorrow! I came home and told Jeff that's the first thing I am doing. Purchasing a new computer is next. I'm thinking I want a Mac also. I really liked the Apple sessions. I'm pushing him to purchase a new computer by September, so I can get the free ipod. Sitting in the apple session I got ideas on how to use the ipods in class. I can't wait to get my hands on one, so I can start recording books and downloading lessons for the kiddos.

I realized, after only a few sessions, I was using the wrong computer. Everywhere I looked people were using Macs and FireFox for their web browsers. In the sessions, when the speaker asked, “who is using a pc with Internet Explorer,” hardly anyone raised their hands (including me). I had the opportunity to speak with educators from all over the U.S. All of whom had a Mac and used it flawlessly with podcasting, blogs, video editing, you name it. It is so hard making change in general, but with technology, it is even harder. I came home, made the purchase of a Mac Book Pro and should have it any day now. I must confess however, I am going to put both operating systems on it, but primarily use Apple.
