I think that he would not like it because the land is his and he is the emperor so he should not have to go to Jamestown but they should come to him.

Why would asking Chief Powhatan to come to James Town to receive gifts upset him?

It would upset him because the English colonists are trying to make Chief Powhatan a subject under the stinky King James 1. And he thinks that he own his own land so it makes Chief Powhatan angry.

Because he is the Indian king so people need to come  to him.Not him to them. He thinks that he can do anything he desires.

He is a chief and is like a king. Kings should not have to come receive gifts from who they rule over, they should go to him.
