Please check all grade levels that your child or children are in this year.

6th

What do you know about PBIS?

I have a general idea about the program as presented to School Board

Have you heard or know about the Trojan Traits: Respectful, Responsible & Ready?

Yes

Does your child show you or talk with you about receiving Trojan Tickets?

Yes

If your child talks about receiving Trojan Tickets, what do they say they recieve them for?

My child does not seem interested in obtaining tickets.  She seldom speaks of the program; only when I ask.

Do you feel your child's behavior has improved in any area based on the receipt of Trojan Tickets?

No

If you feel your child's behavior has improved based on the receipt of Trojan Tickets please explain how.

DNA

Has your child talked with you about spending their Trojan Tickets at the Trojan Store?

Yes

If your child has talked with you about the Trojan Store, what do they say?

That the items are either lame or too out of reach

Do you feel your child has positive support when it comes to his/her behavior at school?

Yes

What could be done to improve the behavioral support your child is receiving?

I truly believe that PBIS is a culture.  As in anything, it needs to have sound infrastructure in place, which I do not feel the school has achieved; nor do I feel that there is enough evidence that this is being addressed. By this I mean - when on a whole we have staff, teachers, ancillary personnel acting as we expect the children to act.

As I walk the hallways, I still see UP staff yelling, scowling, belittling children with words, and body language.  With this behavior from the adults, we will NEVER achieve a safe, fun, and productive environement.

I believe that children learn by observation.  They are observing inconsistent messages.  The administration must no longer tolerate the negative behaviors demonstrated by adults.  Albeit, everyone has an off day; I'm not talking about the occasional cranky moment.  It is the pervasive attitude that the children need to be controlled versus taught.

The tickets are a false economy, and just like our current economic climate, will not produce much in terms of lasting change in security.

I do believe that those involved in the program have put much effort in to the success, and do not want them to feel despondent over the critisms that may come.  I hope that the Administration takes our school in a different direction to achieve the desired outcomes.

Frankly, I am tired of explaining to children why adults behave poorly.  This is not the lesson I want to be teaching my children.
