Parent PBIS Survey: View Response #38

Please check all grade levels that your child or children are in this year.

K; 4th

What do you know about PBIS?

PBIS is a program to try to better the behavior of the students of the school.

Have you heard or know about the Trojan Traits: Respectful, Responsible & Ready?

Yes

Does your child show you or talk with you about receiving Trojan Tickets?

Yes

If your child talks about receiving Trojan Tickets, what do they say they recieve them for?

They only talk about them when I point blank ask about them.  The 4th grader says they never get them except once in a while.  The kindergartner says Mr. Harness gives them out.

Do you feel your child's behavior has improved in any area based on the receipt of Trojan Tickets?

No

If you feel your child's behavior has improved based on the receipt of Trojan Tickets please explain how.

n/a

Has your child talked with you about spending their Trojan Tickets at the Trojan Store?

Yes

If your child has talked with you about the Trojan Store, what do they say?

Kindergartner likes the store.  4th grader thinks the frogs/lizards are cool but says there's not much worth anything in the store.  They both say they don't get any notice about when the store will be - ie they don't know about shopping ahead of time.

Do you feel your child has positive support when it comes to his/her behavior at school?

Yes

What could be done to improve the behavioral support your child is receiving?

Both my children receive positive feedback from their teachers in the form of comments and kudos.

PBIS rewards children for doing behavior that is expected of them from their parents and school.  Why would we do this  - these are basic expectations?  The children are fully aware in the older grades that those students who misbehave receive the trojan tickets for rewards when they do behave.  Honestly, it says to the children - act up first and then act good, then we'll reward you for now behaving properly, better than you were doing before.
