Chapters 17-18
Please answer the following questions in complete sentences:
 1. How has your understanding of Muslims and/or Muslim culture changed from reading this story?
1a. No, I all ready knew how they prayed, and that were not treated as well as boys were.

2. List three reasons why there is a need for a water pump in Skardu.
2a. The nearest river was more than an hours walk away.
2b. There might to be more people because there were more people how had lost there homes.
2c. They need water to plant and grow crops.

1 Well usually when I hear the word Muslim I thought of terrorists, but now I think of poor people in Villages who are kind and gentle and most don't have an education.
2 A water pump in Skardu is needed for getting water in the small village. They need water so they can drink it and live. They also need water for maybe bathing or cleaning themselves so they don't smell weird!

1. I've learned that Muslims like Americans. I never knew that because we are in war with the people of their.

2. 1, because they are living in the desert. 2, because people are starving and need water to survive. 3, because they would have to make a home their.

1) My understanding has changed because every day, we hear about the war, and how it's the Muslim's fault, but it really is not all of their faults. The problem is with only a select few.

2) The refugee's in Skardu have no fresh water, so they have no water at allll. Therefore, they need the water pump so they can have water.

1.At first I always thought that it was strange that the women had to wear head scarves, but then the book told me that the women aren't allowed to show their hair to any man.

2. They got bombed by India.
 
2(a. The closest water supply was an hour walk away.

2(b. They had no water there.

1.a At first before the story I thought that they believed in Christ but actually they believe in Allah which is their god.
 
 2.a The first reason is that, the fields were ruining . Second, is that all the irrigation channels were broke. Third, Greg knew that the woman and children would die if they didn't do anything.

1. That not all Muslims are bad people and that if a group of Muslims attack the United States, that not all of them even knew.


2. Because it was a wasteland ( Sand dunes) and the nearest river was a mile away.

2: They live at some sand dunes near an airport where they have little water. The walk to the nearest stream is an hour long. They would have to drill deep into the ground to find water.

1: My understanding of the Muslim culture has changed because, I thought they just wore head scarves and worshiped god like crazy, but I was wrong. They are very nice and caring people, they call god Allah, and they have different beliefs then I do.

2: They needed a water pump in Skardu because the village had been damaged from the war. So, they had to dig a 120 foot hole in the ground so they could find water.

1.Muslims are poor people who where very kind to greg when he was sick or something and he would help them and when some people think of muslims they think of people who are mean and things like that.
2.They need water because it is a dry place,and need somewhere to get water from, and so the people of Skardu don't dehidrate.

Well it has changwed alot becuase most of the time I think of Muslims as terrorists  people of hate and the word war always pops into my head.But I was totally wrong  most of their people are kind peacfull helpfull and wise.2.Skardu needs water becuase they have a changed place of home witch does not provide enough water for them and their not alot of fresh water and their has been alot of war

1. This book taught me that Muslums are not bad people not all Muslums are terrorists like you see on tv they, actually like Americans .
2.you have to have water to drink or you can die , you use water to cook , and you can use water to clean your body so the village people won't be so stinky or pore looking .

1.My thoughts have changed because when I heard the word Muslim I thought they were mean people who were terrorist. But know I know they are nice people in need.

2.They have to walk hours until they can get water. Second of all they are thirsty and hungry. Third of all if they were going to live there they were going to need lots of water,.

1.It has changed because I thought they at least had clean water, but now I realize just how bad their lives must be. Plus, I didn't know they believed in stuff like tomars.
2.They would not be able to have crops if they had no water, they would not be able raise livestock, and they wouldn't be able to live themselves if they had no water.

1.) I thought that Muslims were mean and a lot of them were terrorists. Now I know that they are Nicer and not a lot of them are bad.
2.) they need water to drink, to take a bath in, and they need some in certain foods.

1   I thought it was Christ that they believed in,but it was actually Allah and I did not knew that so that surprised me.
 
2 The reasons that they need a water pump are that the families are going to die if they do not do something. And their fields are ruined and that all of their irrigation channels are broken.

1.I thought they believed in more than one God, but they didn't say anything about it so I'm still lost.
2.The reason they needed a water pump is because the men went out to search for a new place for their wife an kids.

1. It's Allah and i learned that muslims were nice not mean.
 2, they will die without  water to drink, They need baths/showers so they won't  stink, you use water to cook.
    

1 I learned they are religious people and not mean.
2 Men and women have to walk about a mile or more to get water and without having it men and women could die.

it has changed because i used to think they were disgusting now i think they are nice people.

because they have little water, their water isn't filtered, and more people die from the water than diseases

1. Yes, i didn't think all muslims were bad or nastey okay maybe a little bit.

2.  People die because there is no water in skardu the walk far just to get water they could die because its so far away.

I thought there was bad but they turned to good people.


they need clean water cause their water has stuff too make you sick.
