What is Technology Planning?

The following is a working definition of technology planning established by the RTEC Technology Plan Task Force:

"A technology plan serves as a bridge between established standards and classroom practice. It articulates, organizes, and integrates the content and processes of education in a particular discipline with integration of appropriate technologies. It facilitates multiple levels of policy and curriculum decision making, especially in school districts, schools, and educational organizations that allow for supportive resource allocations."

In general, planning is an ongoing process that translates organizational, public policy, and technology needs into concrete actions. It allows educational organizations to take advantage of technology innovations while minimizing the negative impact of unexpected challenges. Planning provides a road map for the implementation of technology and can result in more efficient expenditure of limited resources and an improvement in student achievement.

Technology Integration Plan

Unity Point School's Technology Plan will be utilized by the District for three years.  It serves as a catalyst to ensure that students are prepared to live and work in a technological society.  It supports our vision of becoming a leading school in southern Illinois in the use of technology.

This plan and generative assessment will monitor progress and lead to sustained high achievement with the infusion of technology.  The plan reports on our present realities and outlines action plans to close the Gap in our areas of need concerning Community Involvement, Engaged Learning, Professional Development and Technology Deployment and Sustainability.  Our areas of need are identified through the use of surveys, need assessments, dialogue and self examination.

Our Technology Plan goals are developed in response to our identified Gaps. All phases, action plans, strategies, timelines and budget details set forth in this document address these goals.

This plan will work following a continuous improvement process; plan, do, study, act and begin again.  We will examine the impact of our progress on our students, teachers and community.  This plan details our preferred future and best hopes for moving forward into the future with technology.  With intentional planning to lead us, we can grow in the areas of most need and celebrate successes.
