1) "Building Bridges" is the title of the chapter. It has a literal and figurative meaning. By literal it is describing Greg and the other men building a bridge with hammers, nails, wood, and other supplies. The other meaning, figurative, means Greg is building a bond with other people in Korphe and getting to know who they are, what their background is like and what they come from.
2) In chapter 11 an important personal event takes place. Greg meets Tara Bishop, and 6 days after that they got married! Greg fell in love, and so did Tara (now Tara Mortenson.)

1) In literal speak, building a bridge means to build a real bridge out of bricks, concrete, etc. To build a bridge in figure of speech is to build a good relationship with a friend or someone else. It "links" to the book, because Mortenson bonds with the kids and people of Korphe (figurative) and he actually builds a bridge with stones and cement.
2)In chapter 11, Greg gets married to Tara Bishop.

1) Building bridges in literal meaning is to actually build a bridge with bricks, rocks, boulders, and actual objects like Greg is doing. To build a bridge in figurative meaning is to do something like "Build a bridge with the new boy" as in building a friendship or something of this sort. Greg is building a bridge in figurative in many ways in the parts of this story. One of the ways is that he is building a bridge by having the cups of tea. They say this on the back of the book and in the book. "With the first cup of tea you are a stranger. With the second... a friend. With the third cup of tea you are family." The second way is when Greg meets the people in the village. He meets people like McCown, Haji Ali, and Mouzafer. He talks too them and gets too know them. And once "The bridge" is done, he is like family to them. Now if he left the village of Korphe he would be welcomed back with a hero's welcome or something like that. Third is he building a bridge with the builders of the literal bridge. He talks to them too. This part pretty much relates to the second meaning.
2) He gets married to Tara.
